Selection of materials for 15 types of plastic packaging

1. Steaming packaging bags

Packaging requirements: used for packaging of meat, poultry, etc., requiring good barrier properties, resistance to bone hole breakage, sterilization under steaming conditions without breaking, cracking, shrinking, and no odor.

Design structure: 1) Transparent type: BOPA/CPP, PET/CPP, PET/BOPA/CPP, BOPA/PVDC/CPPPET/PVDC/CPP, GL-PET/BOPA/CPP2) Aluminum foil type: PET/AL/CPP, PA/AL/CPPPET/PA/AL/CPP, PET/AL/PA/CPP.

Design reasons: PET: high temperature resistance, good rigidity, good printing, high strength. PA: high temperature resistance, high strength, flexibility, good barrier properties, puncture resistance. AL: best barrier properties, high temperature resistance. CPP: high temperature cooking grade, good heat sealing, non-toxic and tasteless. PVDC: high temperature barrier material. GL-PET: ceramic vapor deposition film, good barrier properties, microwave permeability. Choose the appropriate structure for the specific product. Transparent bags are mostly used for steaming, and AL foil bags can be used for ultra-high temperature steaming.

2.Requirements for puffed snack food

packaging: oxygen barrier, water barrier, light avoidance, oil resistance, aroma preservation, scratch-resistant appearance, bright colors, and low cost.

Design structure: BOPP/VMCPP

Design reason: BOPP and VMCPP are both scratch-resistant, BOPP has good printability and high gloss.

VMCPP has good barrier properties, aroma preservation and moisture resistance. CPP also has good oil resistance.

3. Soy sauce packaging bag

Packaging requirements: odorless, low-temperature sealing, anti-sealing pollution, good barrier properties, moderate price.

Design structure: KPA/S-PE

Design reason: KPA has excellent barrier properties, good toughness, high composite fastness with PE, not easy to break, and good printability. Modified PE is a blend of multiple PEs (co-extrusion), with low heat sealing temperature and strong resistance to sealing pollution.

4. Biscuit packaging

Packaging requirements: good barrier properties, strong light-shielding properties, oil resistance, high strength, odorless, and scratch-resistant packaging.

Design structure: BOPP/EXPE/VMPET/EXPE/S-CPP

Design reason: BOPP has good rigidity, good printability, and low cost. VMPET has good barrier properties, light-proof, oxygen-proof, and water-proof.

S-CPP has good low-temperature heat sealing and oil resistance.

5. Milk powder packaging

Packaging requirements: long shelf life, fragrance and taste preservation, anti-oxidation and deterioration, and anti-moisture absorption and agglomeration.

Design structure: BOPP/VMPET/S-PE

Design reason: BOPP has good printability, good gloss, good strength and moderate price. VMPET has good barrier properties, light-proof, good toughness and metallic luster. It is better to use enhanced PET with aluminum plating and thick AL layer.

S-PE has good anti-pollution sealing and low-temperature heat sealing.

6. Green tea packaging

Packaging requirements: prevent deterioration, discoloration and taste change, that is, prevent the oxidation of protein, chlorophyll, catechin and vitamin C contained in green tea.

Design structure: BOPP/AL/PE, BOPP/VMPET/PE, KPET/PE

Design reason: AL foil, VMPET and KPET are all materials with excellent barrier properties, and have good barrier properties to oxygen, water vapor and odor. AK foil and VMPET also have excellent light-proof properties. The product price is moderate.

7. Edible oil

Packaging requirements: anti-oxidation and deterioration, good mechanical strength, high burst resistance, high tear strength, oil resistance, high gloss, transparency

Design structure: PET/AD/PA/AD/PE, PET/PE, PE/EVA/PVDC/EVA/PE, PE/PEPE

Design reason: PA, PET, PVDC have good oil resistance and high barrier properties. PA, PET, PE have high strength, the inner layer PE is a special PE, good resistance to sealing pollution, and high airtightness.

8. Milk film

Packaging requirements: good barrier properties, high burst resistance, light-proof, good heat-sealing properties, and moderate price. Design structure: white PE/white PE/black PE Design reason: the outer layer PE has good gloss and high mechanical strength, the middle layer PE is the strength bearer, and the inner layer is a heat-sealing layer with light-proof, barrier, and heat-sealing properties.

9. Ground coffee packaging

Packaging requirements: anti-water absorption, anti-oxidation, resistance to hard blocks of products after vacuuming, and preservation of the volatile and easily oxidized aroma of coffee. Design structure: PET/PE/AL/PE, PA/VMPET/PE Design reason: AL, PA, VMPET have good barrier properties, water and gas barrier, PE has good heat sealing.

10. Chocolate

Packaging requirements: good barrier properties, light protection, beautiful printing, low temperature heat sealing. Design structure: pure chocolate varnish / ink / white BOPP / PVDC / cold seal glue nut chocolate varnish / ink / VMPET / AD / BOPP / PVDC / cold seal glue Design reason: PVDC and VMPET are both high barrier materials, cold seal glue can be sealed at extremely low temperatures, and heat will not affect chocolate. Since nuts contain more oil and are easily oxidized and deteriorated, an oxygen barrier layer is added to the structure.

11. Beverage packaging bag

Packaging requirements: The pH value of acidic beverages is <4.5, pasteurized, and generally barrier. The pH value of neutral beverages is >4.5, sterilized, and the barrier property must be high.

Design structure: 1) Acidic beverages: PET/PE (CPP), BOPA/PE (CPP), PET/VMPET/PE 2) Neutral beverages: PET/AL/CPP, PET/AL/PA/CPP, PET/AL/PET/CPP, PA/AL/CPP
Design reason: For acidic beverages, PET and PA can provide good barrier properties and are resistant to pasteurization. The acidity prolongs the shelf life. For neutral beverages, AL provides the best barrier properties, PET and PA have high strength and are resistant to high temperature sterilization.

12. Liquid detergent three-dimensional bag

Packaging requirements: high strength, impact resistance, burst resistance, good barrier properties, good rigidity, ability to stand upright, stress cracking resistance, good sealing.

Design structure: ① Three-dimensional: BOPA/LLDPE; bottom: BOPA/LLDPE. ② Three-dimensional: BOPA/reinforced BOPP/LLDPE; bottom: BOPA/LLDPE. ③ Three-dimensional: PET/BOPA/reinforced BOPP/LLDPE; bottom: BOPA/LLDPE.

Design reason: The above structure has good barrier properties, the material is rigid, suitable for three-dimensional packaging bags, and the bottom is flexible and suitable for processing. The inner layer is modified PE and has good resistance to sealing pollution. Reinforced BOPP increases the mechanical strength of the material and strengthens the barrier properties of the material. PET improves the water resistance and mechanical strength of the material.

13. Aseptic packaging cover material

Packaging requirements: It is sterile during packaging and use.

Design structure: coating/AL/peel layer/MDPE/LDPE/EVA/peel layer/PET.

Design reason: PET is a sterile protective film that can be peeled off. When entering the sterile packaging area, the PET is peeled off to reveal the sterile surface. The AL foil peeling layer is peeled off when the customer drinks. The drinking hole is punched in advance on the PE layer, and the drinking hole is exposed when the AL foil is peeled off. AL foil is used for high barrier, MDPE has good rigidity and good thermal adhesion with AL foil, LDPE is cheap, the VA content of the inner layer EVA is 7%, VA>14% is not allowed to directly contact food, and EVA has good low-temperature heat sealing and anti-sealing pollution.

14. Pesticide packaging

Packaging requirements: Since pesticides are highly toxic and seriously endanger personal and environmental safety, the packaging requires high strength, good toughness, impact resistance, drop resistance, and good sealing.

Design structure: BOPA/VMPET/S-CPP

Design reason: BOPA has good flexibility, puncture resistance, high strength, and good printability. VMPET has high strength and good barrier properties, and can use increased thickened coating materials. S-CPP provides heat sealing, barrier and corrosion resistance, and uses ternary copolymer PP. Or use multi-layer co-extruded CPP containing high barrier EVOH and PA layers.

15. Heavy packaging bags

Packaging requirements: Heavy packaging is used for packaging agricultural products such as rice, beans, chemical products (such as fertilizers), etc. The main requirements are good toughness and necessary barrier properties.

Design structure: PE/plastic fabric/PP, PE/paper/PE/plastic fabric/PE, PE/PE

Design reasons: PE provides sealing, good flexibility, drop resistance, and high strength of plastic fabric.
